Georgian Pro Bono Forum – April 202029/01/2020

Pro Bono in Georgia is quite a new but very dynamically developing concept. Companies in Georgia are more and more interested in pro bono and wish to take part in it. In 2015 the Centre for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG) became member of Global Pro Bono Network and started Pro Bono mediation work in Georgia.

In the same year CSRDG has initiated Georgia’s Pro Bono Network – an informal union of Georgian and international companies operating in Georgia that are willing to use their expertise and professional resources for the benefit of the society. The goal of Georgia’s Pro Bono Network is to make the expertise of the private sector available to the organizations working to improve society. The Network was established with the support of BMW Herbert Quant Foundation and Taproot Foundation and CSRDG is responsible for the expert and administrative support to the Network.

Since then Network has icriease from 13 to 20 organizations and its members get involved in numerous Pro Bono cases, including marathons, long and short-term consultations and pro bono trainings.

This year the Network turs 5 years old and to mark this date, CSRDG is organizing a large-scale multi stakeholder forum, dedicated to Pro bono. The forum will unite representatives of all sectors – Civil sector, companies, international organizations and government. Members of the Global Pro Bono Network will be also invited. The main goals of the Forum are to contribute to the promotion of Pro bono in Georgia, share best practices in Georgia and globally, present achievements of the Georgian Pro bono network and also activities of Global Pro Bono network to Georgian society. Georgian pro bono companies and beneficiary organizations (public-benefit organizations) will present their cases and speak about their experience, Global Pro Bono network members will also speak about international best practices, pro bono mediation concept and main achievements of GPBN.

The forum will be followed by workshop (creative session) for Georgian Pro Bono network member companies, where they will meet guests from Global Pro Bono Network and discuss challenges and opportunities related to pro bono, experience in other countries and main trends of pro bono development in Georgia.

The forum is organized in frames of large-scale program “Civil Society Development Initiative”(2017-2020)  which is implemented by the consortium led by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in cooperation with four Georgian Civil Society Organizations (including our organization) The project is funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
